POCPC Receives Funding From The Femtheogen Collaborative

New York City, NY - The People of Color Psychedelic Collective (POCPC) today announced new funding at a valuation of $36,000. This funding was led by the Femtheogen Collaborative with support from twenty-six other funders including DanceSafe. This comes months after the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies fiscally sponsored POCPC.

“This marks a new chapter in our organization. With the new funding, we will increase our impact and ability to directly support people of color who want to learn about psychedelics and people who want to end the war on drugs.” -Ifetayo Harvey, founder, and board president.

“The tremendous amount of enthusiasm we received in response to the fundraising campaign shows there is a thirst for the type of work POCPC has undertaken and we are overjoyed to see the fruits of that labor. We look forward to expanding our outreach further to fulfill our mission and satiate that thirst for equity and inclusion in psychedelic spaces.    “ -Daniel Garcia, secretary of the board.

The People of Color Psychedelic Collective received a $15,000 grant from the Femtheogen Collaborative, a project of the Riverstyx Foundation with a $10,000 match component. POCPC raised $13,500 during the month of July to go towards the match.

The funding will go towards several projects including a digital brand refresh, a psychedelic guidebook, additional digital events and resources, and, lastly, organizational development.

The POCPC has worked together since 2017 to build new narratives and support for people of color interested in psychedelics. In 2019, they held their first conference, Empyrean at the Eaton Hotel in Washington D.C. and their first retreat in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, POCPC held 6 online workshops on ranging topics from death and psychedelics to cultural appropriation.

The POCPC works to educate and build a community for people of color interested in psychedelics and ending the war on drugs. The POCPC recognizes the need to create spaces and support for communities of color as the world of psychedelics is rapidly changing. The members of the POCPC are grateful to their donors and supporters. Because of the new funding, the Collective released a new blog series, WHO WE ARE that introduces our members to our audience. The first piece in this monthly series features POCPC treasurer, Mary Sanders, LCSW.
